The Children’s Corner (Ages 4+)
Beginners/Elementary

Children talk before they can read, and they listen before they can talk. St Andrews Piano Academy’s Children’s Corner is where the piano journey starts for the youngest learners, where listening, imagination, and connecting to music are nurtured from the very beginning.

The 1:1 lessons are structured to build strong foundations in sound production, listening skills, expression, and playing with a healthy and reliable technique. The focus is on developing a deep and genuine love for music, and a strong musical and technical foundation, which will stay with each child for life.

Children’s Corner is a partnership: parents are expected to be actively involved in lessons and in home practice, helping to create a supportive and consistent musical environment.

With the right support, every child will grow.
The Piano Studio
Intermediate/Advanced

These lessons are designed for pupils who seek a deep and high-level engagement with the piano. The focus lies on playing with expression, sound production, and artistry. Strong and healthy technical foundations are built, but always in service of musical understanding.

Learning an instrument at a high level requires regular practice, attention to detail, and perseverance. Pupils are encouraged to participate in music festivals, competitions, auditions and summer schools/masterclasses, as they gain experience, confidence and a sense of purpose. While exams can be included where appropriate, they are not the unique focus.

Parental involvement is essential, particularly for younger students. Parents play an active role in lessons and at home, help to establish routines, reinforce guidance, and create an environment in which progress can happen.
